The Challenge
The most effective home renovations often take place before they become a necessity. That was the forward-thinking approach taken by Mr and Mrs A’s daughter when she contacted Absolute Mobility after finding us online. Her goal wasn’t to respond to a crisis—but to plan ahead.
Mr and Mrs A live independently in their own beautifully designed area within their daughter’s home in Surrey. Just two years ago, they had completed a stylish ensuite bathroom renovation that perfectly suited their needs at the time. However, with Mr A living with Dementia and Parkinson’s disease—while still reasonably mobile with the support of a walking frame—the family wanted to adapt the space with future mobility in mind.
The key challenge was to modify the existing low-level walk-in shower and create a level-access wet floor area. This needed to not only meet Mr A’s current needs but also provide for the possibility of wheeled access in the future. And crucially, the changes had to respect the quality and visual appeal of the recent renovation, avoiding the typical “clinical” look of many accessibility upgrades.
Mr and Mrs A’s daughter made it clear: the bathroom must not look retrofitted or out of place. It needed to feel intentionally designed, as though the changes had always been part of the original vision.
The Outcome
Our expert installation team, Ben and Matt, approached the project with the precision and care it deserved. From the start, it was evident that both function and aesthetics were equally important in this accessible wetroom installation in Surrey.
To help the family explore their options, we brought our mobile showroom directly to their Surrey home. This made it easy to compare finishes and materials alongside the existing bathroom design, ensuring that every decision aligned with their preferences and needs.
One of the project’s key achievements was our ability to perfectly match the existing tile scheme utilising Fibo Wall Panels. This attention to detail allowed us to remove the low-level shower and install a new wet floor area that blended seamlessly into the room’s design. There was no need to overhaul the entire bathroom—only targeted, intelligent modifications were made.
The result is a level-access showering space that functions beautifully with Mr A’s current mobility and is fully prepared for future use with a wheelchair or carer assistance if required. Importantly, the design remains cohesive, stylish, and inviting—not an obvious adaptation, but a natural progression of their home’s aesthetic.
Ben and Matt completed the work efficiently and respectfully, mindful of the family’s routine and Mr A’s comfort. Their craftsmanship and attention to detail were vital in delivering a space that supports both practical needs and peace of mind.
Mr and Mrs A’s daughter was delighted with the outcome. The family now has a bathroom that not only looks beautiful but also adapts to meet changing needs over time—without sacrificing comfort or design. The renovation gives them reassurance and flexibility, helping Mr A maintain his independence with dignity for as long as possible.

Customer Testimonial
We chose Absolute Mobility initially because they were responsive, open and knowledgeable right from our initial enquiry. I needed a company that would understand my parents needs and be reliable and trustworthy…… I needn’t have worried at all as the staff we met from initial appointment, the fitters and the supportive administrative staff have all just been amazing.
The whole process was easy, the initial meeting to discuss my parents needs was really thorough and the team member captured my dads needs completely. The choice and range of equipment and aids on offer was huge and the finishing colours of flooring and wall panels was great too.
The fitters were friendly and helpful and they made my parents feel relaxed and supported throughout which is so important. Their attention detail and finish was of an excellent standard and they were clean and tidy, in fact we didn’t even know they had been in the house at the end of the day.
We have been left with the most amazing space for my Dad, it means he can easily access the bathroom and it has given him back his independence which had been lost because of the old bathrooms design. The room is bright, fresh and modern despite it being an accessible wetroom. We have had access to support over email and telephone from beginning to end of the process and we are truly delighted and grateful.
