Assisted Power Baths: Safe, Dignified Care at Home

When a loved one requires dedicated help with their personal care, bathing can become a physically demanding task for both the bather and the carer. At Absolute Mobility, our assisted power baths—also known as height-adjustable or “hi-lo” baths—are expertly designed to ensure a safe, soothing bathing experience while entirely removing the risk of back strain for the caregiver.

Protecting Both Bather and Carer

Leaning over a standard bathtub to assist someone can quickly lead to severe back ache or injury. Our assisted power baths feature an advanced lifting mechanism that raises the entire bathtub to a safe, comfortable working height for the carer. This means they can wash their loved one without stooping or bending, promoting better posture and safer care.

FAQs

What does “Hi-Lo” mean when referring to a bath?

“Hi-Lo” stands for High-Low. It refers to the bath’s ability to be mechanically raised and lowered. This allows a carer to raise the entire bathtub to their waist level, enabling them to assist the bather without bending over and straining their back.

Are assisted power baths compatible with ceiling track hoists?

Yes, our assisted power baths are highly versatile. They can be safely used in conjunction with ceiling track hoists. Additionally, the baths are designed with clearance underneath so that mobile floor hoists can easily slide into place for safe transfers.

Can you install an assisted power bath in a standard home?

Absolutely. While these baths are frequently used in care homes, we regularly install them in domestic properties. During our free home assessment, we will evaluate your bathroom dimensions and plumbing to ensure the bath can be accommodated and operated safely.

Are the lifting mechanisms jerky or frightening for the bather?

Not at all. The motors used in our assisted power baths are designed to be exceptionally smooth, stable, and quiet. This ensures that the bather does not feel jolted or alarmed, helping to maintain a calm and relaxing environment.

How do you keep the bath clean and hygienic?

Our assisted power baths are constructed from high-quality, non-porous materials that are exceptionally easy to wipe down. We also offer options with built-in antimicrobial protection to assist with excellent hygiene and infection control between uses.
